The 113th edition of the Tour de France kicks off on July 4th, 2026, with an exciting Grand Départ in Barcelona, featuring an opening 19.6 km team time trial and finish on the Montjuïc hill.
Running through July 26, the 21-stage route immediately crosses the Pyrenees into France, featuring a mix of classic flat sprint days, rolling classics-style stages, and an individual time trial from Évian to Thonon-les-Bains.
The absolute climax of the general classification battle will unravel deep in the Alps during the final week, where riders face an unprecedented, back-to-back double feature on the legendary hairpins of Alpe d’Huez (Stages 19 and 20).
The race concludes with its traditional celebratory sprint on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, which welcomes a redesigned final circuit that incorporates the spectacular loop through Montmartre included in last year’s route.
While the men’s Tour de France dominates the July spotlight, the rest of the peloton still keeps on with their packed summer schedule!
In women’s racing, the calendar features the multi-day Baloise Ladies Tour in mid-July, providing prime mid-summer action for sprinters and time-trialists across Belgium and the Netherlands, alongside the newly upgraded Tour de Pologne Women hitting the roads in late July.
On the men’s side, smaller European stage races like the Sibiu Cycling Tour in Romania and the Tour of Austria offer critical mid-season opportunities for climbing specialists who missed out on Grand Tour selection.
Finally, as July wraps up, the WorldTour sharpens its focus back to Spain for the prestigious Clásica de San Sebastián, a hilly one-day that draws the world’s top puncheurs just days after the peloton rolls into Paris.
