With the Tour de France just around the corner, LEGO has dropped a little something that fits on every cycling fan’s display shelf: a constructable road bike!

If you keep in touch with the “geek” world, you might have already seen it shared elsewhere, because this model was appealing to cycling fans and LEGO fans. Officially called the “LEGO Icons Road Bike,” this is the first road bike model ever for LEGO.
Although LEGO has some other bike-themed sets, including this mountain bike van geared more towards kids, this also appears to be the first bike-themed piece in any of their more collectible, display-oriented sets.
According to their website, this road bike set is built for cycling enthusiasts who appreciate all the engineering that goes into a real road bike.
Special details make this LEGO one-of-a-kind for anyone who loves bikes.
Viewers of the Tour de France and other big cycling races know just how much intentionality is build into top-level bikes. LEGO seems to have taken a page from that book, because the mechanical authenticity of their new LEGO bike is genuinely pretty impressive! This is a 1,015-piece set and features bike-authentic functionality in the finished build, such as front-wheel steering and a working pedal-and-chain drive. A freewheel mechanism built into the little LEGO hub will allow for “coasting” and “free backpedaling.”
Truthfully, it’s surprising that these small features would be added just to make it more like the real thing when all it will really do is be displayed, never ridden. That’s why it seems that LEGO did make this just for the bike fans.
Some of the other components present in the build, according to LEGO’s website: derailleurs, brake calipers, clipless pedals, and a silver-colored drive chain. All are ready to be faithfully recreated in LEGO brick form.
Note that the set also includes a removable water bottle and rear light, as well as a rear wheel-lift stand that lets the wheel spin freely when the pedals are turned.
When mounted on the stand, the LEGO bike measures around 14 in. (36 cm) high, 23 and a half in. (60 cm) long, and 7 and a half in. (19 cm) wide. It’s almost substantial enough to command the same respect as a proper race bike…
This blog is not affiliated with LEGO in any way. Still, we have to congratulate them for making such a fun and authentic model bike!
When will the LEGO road bike be available?
Are you interested in grabbing one of these for yourself, or as a holiday gift for a bike lover in your life? The LEGO is rated for ages 18+, although younger enthusiasts may also be able to build it. The set will be priced at $129.99 US dollars and is currently available to pre-order. General availability will start June 1, 2026 at lego.com and in LEGO physical stores.
You can see its listing on the LEGO website here.
While this release is timed perfectly for Grand Tour season, keep it in your pocket for the holidays or the next birthday of your favorite cycling fan. Reactions on social media like Reddit’s r/cycling were positive. We only hope that they will offer it in some additional colors in the future, so that everyone can have a little model bike that looks like one of their own.
